1-6-19 Message Notes “Getting Ready for the Rest of Your Life” Part 1

“God is in control”

January 6, 2019

Isaiah 43:18-19 The Lord says, “Forget what happened before, and do not think about the past.

19 Look at the new thing I am going to do.”

1 Chronicles 29:11 “Everything in the heavens and the earth is Yours, O Lord.  We adore You as being in control of everything.”

Because God is in control…

  1. YOUR plans have a limit.

Proverbs 19:21 “Many are the plans in a man’s heart but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.”

Proverbs 16:1 “We may make our plans but God has the last word.”

Proverbs 16:9 “We should make plans counting on God to direct us.”

Because God is in control…

  1. YOUR problems (opportunities) have a purpose.

Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”

Genesis 50:20 “…you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good…”

2 Corinthians 4:16-17 “That is why we are not discouraged. Though outwardly we are wearing out, inwardly we are renewed day by day.

17 Our suffering is light and temporary and is producing for us an eternal glory that is greater than anything we can imagine.

Romans 8:31,35 “What then shall we say to these things?  If God is for us, who can be against us? 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?”

Because God is in control…

  • YOUR prayers have an impact.

1 John 5:14 “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.”

Ephesians 3:20 “God is able to do far more than we would ever dare to ask or even dream of – infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, or hopes.”
